THE CHRISTINE PEDI AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN THEATRE
The organization with the highest average of all entry scores will receive this award. Groups must be participating in at least one Large Group Ensemble or Small Group Ensemble entry to be eligible for this honor.
“Discovering and developing your skills as an artist & storyteller on stage will stay with you forever. Compassion, depth of understanding, humor, physical and emotional confidence can all be found through the performing arts. Whether a young person chooses to move forward towards a career in theatre or not, these experiences will inform and elevate their ability to navigate through the world with a little more self esteem and a lot more joy.” -Christine Pedi
Christine Pedi is a comic actress, Drama Desk nominee, renowned impressionist, Sirius XM Host of the On Broadway Channel 72, a You Tube sensation, an award-winning Cabaret performer, and even a “dead” Soprano. On Broadway, she played Mama Morton in the 2nd longest running musical of all time, Chicago. Her Broadway debut was in Little Me with Martin Short & Faith Prince, directed by Rob Marshall. She also voices Holly Blue Agate in Steven Universe. We are pleased to honor her work on Broadway and Off and her passion for theatre as we name our “sweepstakes” award after Ms. Pedi (www.christinepedi.com).
